Overview
Khosar Gang, also known as ‘Ice Pumpkin’ in the Balti language, is one of the easiest peaks to climb for beginner mountaineers. Located 33 km north of Skardu, the peak was first climbed by a four-member Japanese team from the Himalayan Green Club: Ms. Kyoko Endo (63), Mayumi Uehira (55), Hirowo Ito (62), and Keiko Tabata. They established base camp at 4,035 meters, set up Camp I on the southwest ridge, and successfully reached the summit of the south peak. Technically, the climb is straightforward, making it accessible for less experienced climbers. The ideal climbing season is between July and August.
